There are two main groups of floors: natural wood and water-safe. It is important to consider and match the flooring type to your lifestyle.
Natural wood floors add value and provide warmth to the home. However, they take more care and maintenance. Water-safe floors are good for homes with young children and pets, where spills and scratches are likely.
No, they are not waterproof. However, they are water-safe for areas that are prone to surface spills and splashes. They are not ideal for areas with frequent splashes such as around a shower or bathtub.
You can install a floated floor over an existing one, but there is no installation warranty. This is because there is no guarantee that the flooring underneath will not come loose as part of the process.
LVP flooring is fairly durable, but not ideal if there is a lot of sunlight coming into a room. If you like the features of a LVP but have a home that gets a lot of sunlight, a laminate floor will be better for you.
The durability of an LVP floor depends on how thick the protective wear layer is on top (usually measured in ‘mils’). LVP is scratch-resistant and quite easy to clean.
If it is a smaller job, you will need to have all your small items put away, drawers emptied out enough so that the furniture can be easily moved, closet floors emptied with no long hanging items, and all electrical items unplugged. If a hard surface is being removed that is messy, it is best to remove what you can off the walls for ease of cleaning. We cover your items with plastic, but the white dust still will be in the air. For larger jobs, we will use movers.
Yes, installations are backed with a one-year warranty.
Floors should be swept several times a week. We prefer using cleaners that do not leave a residue on the floor. The flooring already comes with a strong finish on it. Most floors simply need to be cleaned with a floor cleaner once or twice a month. Otherwise, a damp cloth can be used to clean up spills or mud tracked in. No floors can handle a lot of water and string mops should not be used.
Carpeting should be vacuumed once a week and cleaned professionally every 18 months.
Hardwood floors should be recoated or refinished every 7-10 years, and possibly more, depending on the traffic in your home. You can tell when you need to have them recoated or refinished because they start looking dull in high-traffic areas and the stain can start wearing away. Depending on the cleaners that have been used, and if there has been any water damage, the floor may not be able to be recoated and will require refinishing.
